Actor Network Analysis
From 2013 to 2014, as urban researcher with the Development Action Group (DAG), I contributed to strategy development with the City of Cape Town and the Informal Settlement Unit, working in a multidisciplinary team with NGO partners.
Prepared for the National Upgrading Support Programme (NUSP) in May 2014, my paper explores the approach to informal settlement upgrading (ISU) in Cape Town through social facilitation, litigation, and knowledge production and learning spaces.
Actor network analysis:
Astrid von Brucken (2014). Development Action Group. Informal Settlement Upgrading and Urban Governance in multi-level stakeholder perspective of Cape Town. The need to foster network-based governance approaches instead of the hierarchical government model.
The research included community development processes and stakeholder engagement in complex environments. Research into informal settlement upgrading strategies was contracted by DAG.
