Soetwater Coastal Recreational Resort : Gatehouse

A spatial development framework included concept designs for the phased design and implementation of management and visitor support facilities, as a tented camp, ablution facilities, a functional restaurant, visitors’ and education centre and a conference facility with the principles of ‘touching the ground lightly’ through siting choices and appropriate materials and methods. Implementation of the framework ran over five years from 2007 until 2012.

Extensive landscaping interventions and three simple public buildings were built. 1. Illustrated here, the gatehouse addition. 2. Alteration of a kiosk into a small conference facility at the tidal pool area. 3.An administration building linked to the existing service yard buildings.
